MAMA/RUN at LPAC's Rough Draft Festival, Lester Eugene Mayers's piece of poetry, movement, and ritual about what we inherit from our mothers when love and absence share the same room. It returns as a workshop after its spring 2026 reading. The Oct 29 matinee includes a talkback with LaGuardia professor Jermaine Rowe. Free RSVP or $25 supporter ticket. Paired with Kiese Laymon's Heavy: An American Memoir (2018), written directly to his mother. It's a book about the body, inheritance, and the lies families tell to survive, and it reads almost like a script for MAMA/RUN.
